Taking the responsibility from the society, the School of Computer Science and Technology has carried out the systematic teaching and cutting-edge research towards the 4 disciplines directions including computer science, computer architecture, computer information technology and software engineering. The college has possessed one rigorous and exemplary teaching team, and the research team with reasonable structure and assiduous research. Moreover, it has also gradually developed several characteristic discipline advantages like computer network, network information security and performance evaluation, computer graphics, virtual reality and visualization, high-performance computing, knowledge engineering, intelligent control and real-time computer application, integrated circuits and embedded computing systems. During the process of enriching and strengthening the above disciplines direction, we will research and develop a new-generation Knowledge Computing Theory based on human cognitive mechanism, on the basis of network information security and software security engineering and supported by integrated circuit and embedded computing system. With our wisdom and hard work, we will create and develop the new-generation technology to shape a harmonious society between machine and human.

The school of computer science and Technology has a complete discipline training system, including a bachelor degree, master degree and doctorate degree cultivating system and a mobile post-doctoral station. First-level discipline including computer science and technology mobile post-doctoral station, doctoral degree program, software engineering doctoral degree program, computer science and technology master degree program. Tianjin first doctoral program in this discipline appeared in the school of Computer Science and Technology of TJU. The annual undergraduate enrollment in the school of Computer Science and Technology of TJU is about 120, M.S. enrollment is 110, Ph.D. enrollment is around 20. At present, there are 1100 full-time students.

With strong faculty and excellent basic learning structure. At present, the discipline is composed of 119 full-time faculty members, including 11 doctoral supervisors, 34 master's supervisors, 27 professors, 40 associate professors, more than 20 assistant professors, 61 teachers with doctoral degrees in a multi-tiered structure led by the junior and leading established academic personnel while being tempered by the experience of more senior members. The school boasts one chief scientist of National "973 Program", one expert of National Thousand Talents Program, two experts of National Youth Thousand Talents Program, one foreign expert of National Thousand Talents Program, two experts of Tianjin Thousand Talents Program.

The school of computer science and Technology consists of Department of Computer Science and Technology, Basic Teaching Department of Computer, Basic Teaching and Experimental Center of Computer and Tianjin University-IBM New Computer Technology Center and other units, it is the research base and talent fostering base in the field of computer science for Tianjin University. Throughout the history of more than half a century, Tianjin University established the computer discipline in 1958, and founded Department of Computer Science and Engineering and School of Computer Science and Technology in 1983 and 2006 respectively. It has cultivated tens of thousands of outstanding talents in the field of computer science for China, making it become one of the earliest units engaging in teaching and scientific research in the field of computer science.
